The working group "L2 Phonetics and Phonology" in Real2 is interested in the following research themes:

  • The relationship between perception and production in the acquisition of phonology/phonetics and prosody in L2
  • Multimodality: the effects of visual aspects, body/articular actions in the acquisition of pronunciation in general (segments or intonation)
  • The role of the tasks used in research/educational practices: what type of work? How effective? How often? What relevance?
  • Comparison of different techniques/methods used for teaching/learning pronunciation in L2
  • Discussion of experimental methodological practices used in the research of phonetics and phonology in L2

Currently, this group brings together some 20 PhD students and faculty-researchers associated with different higher education institutions in France and abroad (Spain, Italy, Mexico, Switzerland). Hybrid (face-to-face and remote) work meetings are held at a frequency of 3 times a year. The purpose of these meetings is to learn about the research carried out by members, to promote discussions among them, to share information and to allow for new collaborative projects.
